IRS' ADP Budget

Issues That Could Affect Funding of Personnel System Project Gao ID: IMTEC-88-45 June 15, 1988

Pursuant to a congressional request, GAO examined the Internal Revenue Service's (IRS) request for $10.3 million in fiscal year 1989 for its Personnel Management Information Telecommunications System (PERMITS).

GAO found that: (1) IRS was experiencing problems converting PERMITS from its current system; and (2) the Department of the Treasury was considering agency-wide use of the Department of Agriculture's (USDA) personnel and payroll system, which would eliminate the need for PERMITS.
