Greater Benefits To Be Gained From DOD Flight Simulators

Gao ID: FPCD-83-4 January 14, 1983

GAO reviewed the Department of Defense's policy of using simulators whenever possible to reduce training costs and to improve training effectiveness.

GAO found that simulators are becoming an increasingly important element of military training, but they are becoming more costly. GAO stated that to insure greater benefits from their large investments in simulators, the services should develop simulators to meet proven training needs and incorporate them into specific training programs.
