Allegations and Other Issues Involving a Retired Air Force Officer Gao ID: NSIAD-87-118BR May 13, 1987

Pursuant to a congressional request, GAO investigated allegations of impropriety against a retired Air Force officer. GAO specifically reviewed whether the officer: (1) used coercion to obtain a marketing agreement from a government contractor; (2) used his influence to deny the contractor future Air Force contracts; and (3) demanded that the contractor pay him from an existing contract despite doing no work for the contractor.

GAO found that there was no evidence that the officer: (1) used coercion or extortion to obtain a marketing agreement from the contractor; (2) threatened to use his contacts and influence to deny the contractor future Air Force contracts; or (3) performed the level of work alleged under the agreement.
