Compliance With Restriction on Foreign Products Gao ID: NSIAD-87-191 September 18, 1987

In response to a congressional request, GAO reviewed the Army Troop Support Command's compliance with an appropriation amendment which prohibited the purchase of specified products from foreign sources.

GAO found that the: (1) Army had not complied with the amendment on two contracts; (2) amendment permitted waiver of the restriction if the Army could not procure the satisfactory quality or sufficient quantity at U.S. market prices; (3) Army reviewed all of its active contracts and disclosed no other instances of products procured from foreign sources; and (4) Army issued implementing guidance to ensure compliance on future awards.
