Some Vehicle Wash Facility Designs Can Be Modified to Save Money Gao ID: NSIAD-89-16 October 27, 1988

In response to a congressional request, GAO reviewed whether the Corps of Engineers gave adequate guidance to planners in designing centralized vehicle wash facilities (CVWF) that met the needs of Army installations at the lowest possible cost.

GAO found that: (1) the Corps inadequately assisted planners in deciding which CVWF features to choose; (2) development of definitive design guidance based on objective criteria was feasible; and (3) eliminating unnecessary features could result in substantial savings.
