Potential Reductions to Selected Procurement Budgets Gao ID: NSIAD-88-212 August 17, 1988

In response to a congressional request, GAO reviewed the Army's: (1) justification for its fiscal year (FY) 1989 budget estimates for its procurement of weapons and tracked combat vehicles; and (2) budgets for FY 1987 and 1988 appropriations.

GAO found potential reductions of: (1) $373.4 million in the weapons and tracked combat vehicles appropriation, including $161.8 million for FY 1989, $131.5 for FY 1988, and $80.1 million for FY 1987; and (2) $82.3 million in other procurement appropriations, including $81.2 million for FY 1989 and $1.1 million for FY 1988.
