Potential Reductions to the Research, Development, Test, and Evaluation Budget Gao ID: NSIAD-88-214 September 1, 1988

Pursuant to a congressional request, GAO reviewed: (1) selected projects in the Army's amended fiscal year (FY) 1989 budget request for research, development, test, and evaluation appropriations (RDT&E); and (2) the FY 1988 budget for the projects to identify potential funding reductions.

GAO found that the Army requested $5,031 million for RDT&E in its FY 1989 amended budget. GAO identified potential reductions of $19.8 million in the FY 1989 budget request and $13.9 million in the FY 1988 budget for the Army Tactical Missile System, the Advanced Antitank Weapon System-Medium, and the Fighting Vehicle Improvements Project.
