Potential Reductions in Tracked Combat Vehicle Programs Gao ID: NSIAD-91-37BR November 7, 1990

Pursuant to a congressional request, GAO reviewed the Army's: (1) fiscal year (FY) 1991 procurement budget for two military vehicles, focusing on opportunities for potential reductions; and (2) implementation of the FY 1990 appropriations for those programs.

GAO found that the amounts the Army requested or appropriated for the two vehicles could potentially be rescinded or reduced by $545.9 million, due to: (1) reduced requirements; (2) low cost estimates; and (3) funding that was not needed until after FY 1991.
