Data Fusion Needs and Capabilities for Battle Group Commanders Gao ID: NSIAD-90-69BR March 7, 1990

Pursuant to a congressional request, GAO assessed the Navy Command and Control System's data fusion management, focusing on group commanders' data fusion needs and capabilities at sea and ashore.

GAO found that: (1) Navy funding difficulties extended automated data fusion development, but the Navy planned to develop new system plans and modify existing systems; and (2) the Navy contended that current data fusion capabilities were ineffective and would remain technically unsatisfactory until the Navy achieved full fusion capability.
