Potential Reductions to the Department of the Air Force's Budget Request Gao ID: IMTEC-90-57BR September 26, 1990

Pursuant to a congressional request, GAO reviewed the Department of Defense's fiscal year (FY) 1991 budget request for 11 Air Force automation projects.

GAO found that, based on budget justifications, schedule slippages, and program changes, the Air Force could potentially reduce its FY 1991 automated information systems budget by a total of $191.5 million by reducing: (1) $65.6 million from other procurements; (2) $86.4 million from operations and maintenance; (3) $26.3 million from research, development, test, and evaluation; and (4) $13.2 million from military construction.
