Cost of the U.S. Invasion of Panama Gao ID: NSIAD-90-279FS September 13, 1990

Pursuant to a congressional request, GAO reviewed the estimated incremental cost of the U.S. invasion of Panama.

GAO found that: (1) the Department of Defense (DOD) estimated the invasion cost to be about $163.6 million, consisting of $155.0 million for the Army, $5.7 million for the Air Force, and $2.9 million for the Navy; and (2) DOD did not request additional funds to cover the costs, but planned to reprogram other existing resources' funds in other appropriation accounts.
