Potential Reductions in Command, Control, and Communications Programs Gao ID: NSIAD-91-305BR September 26, 1991

In reviewing the Army's fiscal year 1992 budget request and prior years' appropriations for selected command, control, and communications programs, GAO found that schedule delays, program changes, and uncertainties have affected program funding requirements for that fiscal year. GAO identified $129 million in potential reductions for congressional consideration. In addition, GAO's review of Army-developed equipment being procured by the Special Operational Forces identified a potential reduction of $14.776 million in the defense agencies' budget.

GAO: (1) found that schedule delays, program changes, and uncertainties affected the Army's program funding requirements for FY 1992; (2) identified $129 million in potential potential reductions in FY 1992 command, control, and communications programs for congressional consideration; (3) identified potential reductions of $114.2 million in Army programs; and (4) identified a potential reduction of $14.8 million for Army-developed equipment procured by special operations forces.
