Potential Reductions in Research, Development, Test, and Evaluation Programs Gao ID: NSIAD-91-315BR September 30, 1991

Pursuant to a congressional request, GAO reviewed the Navy's fiscal year (FY) 1992 budget request and prior year appropriations for its research, development, test, and evaluation programs focusing on potential: (1) reductions to the FY 1992 budget request for selected programs; and (2) rescissions to FY 1991 appropriations.

GAO identified: (1) $321.7 million in potential reductions to the Navy's FY 1992 research, development, test, and evaluation budget request and $150.6 million in potential rescissions to appropriated funds from FY 1991; and (2) potential rescissions of $1.1 billion to FY 1991 funds that are being held in reserve pending allocation, reprograming, program review, or transfer.
