Department of Energy's Development of Contingency Plans for Dealing with Energy Supply Interruptions

Gao ID: EMD-78-59 April 27, 1978

The Energy Policy and Conservation Act requires the Department of Energy (DOE) to develop plans for gasoline and diesel fuel rationing and emergency energy conservation and to furnish the proposed plans to Congress by June 1976. As DOE has been unable to finalize the plans, no plan has been forwarded to Congress. The time has come for DOE to furnish gasoline rationing and emergency energy conservation plans to Congress.
