International Nuclear Analysis

GAO reviewed a subcontract that supports the Department of Energy's (DOE) International Nuclear Analysis Program. GAO noted that: (1) the subcontract is due to expire on June 30, 1994 and DOE plans to definitize it in the near future; (2) the subcontract is for systems development and replacement of the current DOE nuclear material management tracking system; (3) DOE needs to clarify certain contractual items, such as the scope of work, systems acceptance criteria, and remedies for system deficiencies; and (4) DOE needs to ensure that the subcontract adequately protects the government's interest.
