Comments on Food Advertising Proposals

Gao ID: CED-81-27 November 7, 1980

Hundreds of programs exist, and billions of dollars are being spent by both public and private parties, to promote and supply information on food. The Federal Trade Commission, along with other agencies, is attempting to coordinate these efforts.

Primary Federal agencies interested in food and nutrition have cooperated and coordinated their activities. These efforts have aided in the beginning of a national food and nutrition policy, but interested parties outside of the Government need to be included in a broader dialogue to better reflect competing interests.
