Comments on S. 2327]

Gao ID: B-198039 March 28, 1980

Comment is provided on a proposed bill to provide that Drug Enforcement Administration administrative law judges (ALJ) be entitled to pay and benefits similar to the pay and benefits granted to members of the Senior Executive Service under the Civil Service Reform Act of 1978. At this time, GAO does not favor a statutory change in ALJ personnel management practice such as that proposed in S. 2327. The change would affect only one ALJ position and is not consistent with the provisions GAO favors in another bill presently before the Committee on Governmental Affairs.
