Rescission of Budget Authority Proposed in President's Eighth Special Message for FY 1980

Under the Impoundment Control Act of 1974, GAO is required to review and comment on executive branch proposals for rescissions and/or deferrals of impounded fund accounts.

The President's eighth special message for fiscal year 1980 contained a rescission of budget authority totaling $9.0 million and two new referrals of budget authority totaling $19.8 million. The information provided was found to be correct and the actions proposed were found to be clearly and accurately stated.
