Survey of Adult Protective Services Program Administrators (GAO-11-129SP, March 2011), an E-supplement to GAO-11-208 Gao ID: GAO-11-129SP March 2, 2011

This is an E-supplement to GAO-11-208. It presents the results of GAO's web-based survey of all 50 states and the District of Columbia to examine the responsibilities, organization, and challenges of Adult Protective Services (APS) programs. The survey respondents included program administrators in APS programs in all 50 states and the District of Columbia. The questions in our survey were posed to obtain information on APS administration and organization, program eligibility, partners, services, data collection, staffing, public awareness efforts, technical assistance, funding, and challenges. Of the 51 programs, 50 responded, for a survey response rate of 98 percent. This supplement presents results from all closed-ended survey questions, except for a few questions with low item non-response and questions collected solely for GAO assessment of the reported data. Results from questions requiring a written response are not included in this document. We did not independently verify the information pertaining to state laws that was reported by survey respondents.
