Status Report on GAO Review of the U.S. International Narcotics Control Program

GAO noted that: (1) production and availability of illicit drugs continues to grow; (2) governments fail to capture and imprison traffickers; (3) corruption in various drug-exporting countries hampers enforcement; and (4) aerial spraying, new legislation regarding asset and contraband seizures, and the expansion of narcotics control efforts should help achieve U.S. goals for drug eradication.
