Status of Budget Authority Proposed for Rescission in President's Sixth Special Message for FY 1984

The President's sixth special message for fiscal year 1984 proposed nine rescissions of budget authority.

GAO confirmed that on March 28, 1984, the budget authority covered by eight of the rescission proposals was apportioned by the Office of Management and Budget. The funds covered by the remaining rescission proposal were an advance appropriation not available until fiscal year 1986. Therefore, no withholding of funds was involved.
