Migratory Bird Hunting Regulations on Certain Federal Indian Reservations and Ceded Lands for the 1996-97 Late Season Gao ID: OGC-96-50 October 15, 1996

Pursuant to a legislative requirement, GAO reviewed the Department of the Interior's new rule on migratory bird hunting on certain federal indian reservations and ceded lands. GAO found that: (1) the rule would prescribe special late season hunting regulations for 16 tribes on federal reservations, off-reservation trust lands, and ceded lands in response to tribal requests for authority to regulate hunting by tribal and nontribal members; and (2) Interior complied with applicable requirements in promulgating the rule.
