Issues Related to the Fiscal Year 1996 Request Gao ID: T-RCED/AIMD-95-131 March 13, 1995

The Administration is requesting $8.4 billion for Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) programs in fiscal year 1996, a one-percent increase over last year's appropriation. This testimony focuses on major programmatic issues affecting congressional consideration of FAA's fiscal year 1996 budget. GAO discusses (1) the Facilities and Equipment account, which funds air traffic control modernization; (2) the Airport Improvement Program account, which funds airport improvement projects; and (3) the Operations account, which supports FAA's day-to-day operations and safety oversight functions.
