GAO presented its transportation issue area plan for fiscal years 1998 through 2000.

GAO plans to focus its work on promoting: (1) safe, secure, and efficient travel; (2) cost-effective investment in infrastructure; and (3) industry competition and financial health in a largely deregulated environment.
