Compensation for Disability Resulting from Hospitalization, Treatment, Examination, or Vocational Rehabilitation

Gao ID: OGC-96-20 June 6, 1996

Pursuant to a legislative requirement, GAO reviewed the Department of Veterans Affairs' (VA) new rule on compensation for disability resulting from hospitalization, treatment, examination, or vocational rehabilitation. GAO found that: (1) the rule would delete the fault-or-accident requirement for permitting compensation for disability or death resulting from VA health care services; and (2) VA followed applicable requirements in promulgating the rule.
