Standards of Performance for New Stationary Sources and Emission Guidelines for Existing Sources--Hospital/Medical/Infectious Waste Incinerators Gao ID: OGC-98-1 October 1, 1997

Pursuant to a legislative requirement, GAO reviewed the Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) rule on performance standards for hospital/medical/infectious waste incinerators (HMIWI). GAO noted that: (1) the rule would promulgate new source performance standards for hospital/medical/infectious waste incinerators and emission standards for existing HMIWI's to reduce air emissions; and (2) EPA complied with applicable requirements in promulgating the rule.
