Synopsis of Recent GAO Reports on Trade Issues Gao ID: NSIAD-87-103BR March 17, 1987

GAO summarized the principal conclusions and recommendations of its reports on international trade laws and policy to assist Congress in its consideration of proposed legislation relating to international trade.

GAO summarized its conclusions and recommendations on: (1) U.S. participation in the multilateral trading system and the General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade; (2) relief from unfair foreign trade practices; (3) protection of intellectual property rights; (4) import relief under the Trade Act of 1974; (5) foreign industrial targeting, dumping, and export subsidies; (6) the impact of the international financial structure on international trade; (7) international trade in the telecommunications equipment and services markets; (8) U.S. export promotion; (9) export controls over commercial goods and technologies; and (10) international agricultural trade.
