Annual Report on Activities of OPM and MSPB, Fiscal Year 1986 Gao ID: GGD-87-57 May 13, 1987

In response to a legislative requirement, GAO reported on the activities of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) and the Merit Systems Protection Board (MSPB) to determine if OPM actions were in accord with merit system principles and free from prohibited personnel practices.

GAO briefly described its fiscal year (FY) 1986 work, which covered significant OPM and MSPB activities affecting the federal civilian work force. This work included: (1) the reports it issued in FY 1986 on civilian personnel matters; (2) statements on personnel issues it presented to various congressional committees during FY 1986; and (3) ongoing activities as of September 30, 1986, on civilian personnel matters.
