Federal Acquisition Regulation--Reform of Affirmative Action in Federal Procurement Gao ID: OGC-98-64 July 16, 1998

Pursuant to a legislative requirement, GAO reviewed the Department of Defense's (DOD), National Aeronautics and Space Administration's (NASA), and General Services Administration's (GSA) new rules amending the Federal Acquisition Regulation. GAO noted that: (1) the new rules would amend the Federal Acquisition Regulation concerning programs for small disadvantaged business concerns; (2) these rules would reform affirmative action in federal procurement to ensure compliance with the constitutional standards established by the Supreme Court; and (3) GSA, DOD, and NASA complied with applicable requirements in promulgating the rules.
