Testing of NASA's Technical and Management Information System Gao ID: IMTEC-88-28 March 8, 1988

Pursuant to a congressional request, GAO reviewed the National Aeronautics and Space Administration's (NASA) Technical and Management Information System (TMIS) to determine the status of its development.

GAO found that: (1) in June 1987, NASA awarded a $333.7 million contract for TMIS; (2) NASA allocated $36.2 million for initial TMIS development and operation; (3) although the contractor was to have TMIS operational at all 10 NASA user locations by February 1988, it now estimates that it will not complete testing until June 1988; and (4) the contractor provided NASA with only partial and incomplete test reports, which identified problems that the contractor has not yet corrected.
