National Science Foundation-Supported Science Education Materials

Gao ID: HRD-76-134 October 20, 1976

Ten projects receiving National Science Foundation money for development and distribution of science education materials were studied.

Materials evaluations were poor and often were not carried out at all stages. Potential users and distributors were not considered in developmental stages, and the projects were not monitored efficiently. Many materials were too costly or innovative to be attractive commercially or to schools. Followup studies of materials' impact were rarely funded.
