Supplemental Security Income: Determining Disability for a Child Under Age 18 Gao ID: OGC-00-70 September 26, 2000

Pursuant to a legislative requirement, GAO reviewed the Social Security Administration's (SSA) new rule on supplemental security income for childhood disabilities. GAO noted that: (1) the rule would revise and finalize the interim rule published on February 11, 1997, which implemented the childhood disabilities provisions of Public Law 104-193; and (2) SSA complied with applicable requirements in promulgating the rule.
